The signing ceremony of the collaboration agreement between the National Education and Research Network of Guinea-Bissau (RNEP-GW) and the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) took place at the Convent of São Francisco, in Coimbra, on May 7, 2025.
RNEP-GW, represented by João Okica, Chairman of the Board of Directors, and Edualdo Costa, General Director, signed the protocol with FCT, which was represented by its Vice President, Francisco Santos.
The agreement focuses on promoting technology in higher education and research in Guinea-Bissau and symbolizes the strengthening of cooperation between this country and Portugal in technology, with a view to its application in the higher education and scientific research ecosystem. Through this partnership, RNEP-GW will benefit from the experience, capabilities, infrastructure, and best practices of the FCCN, as well as the FCT's digital services.
"The technology field, due to its constant change and need for innovation, presents daily and increasingly complex challenges, which require the constant sharing of experiences between institutions and countries. This partnership is a significant step in this path of international collaboration, with benefits for both institutions," he explains. Francisco Santos, vice-president of the FCT.
The event was part of the 16th edition of the FCCN Conference, an annual event that brings together the Portuguese academic, scientific, and technological community and international partners. João Nuno Ferreira, general coordinator of FCCN, FCT's digital services, and the area directors of the same service, João Pagaime and Emanuel Massano, also represented the Portuguese institution at this session.
