Revealing the fate of the 2026 edition

It was in the closing session of the FCCN 2025 Conference that the community learned about the location and date of the next edition of the meeting. The announcement was attended by representatives of the University of Porto who will join the organization's team.

“We deeply appreciate the work of FCCN and, therefore, it is very important for us to bring this event to Porto,” highlighted, explaining why this will be a particularly important partnership.

In a video message, the Rector of the University of Porto, Antonio de Sousa Pereira, underlined the importance of hosting this event, highlighting the growing value of topics such as computing, connectivity and cybersecurity in today's society. “It is no longer possible to imagine higher education without a set of digital resources”, he reinforced, before concluding, “it is up to us to continue to ensure modernization”

A great expectation for 2026

After achieving several records in 2025, next year's edition of the FCCN Conferences is expected to attract hundreds of people to the city of Porto, surpassing the number of people registered in Coimbra, which had more than a thousand registrations.

As in other years, a strong approach with the student community that can be part of the event, either as a participant or as a volunteer. A large stimulus for the region's economy, with a positive impact on local commerce and restaurants, as well as the hotel industry.

The event has already had 16 editions, which over the years have seen more than 6,400 participants, around 516 speakers and more than 260 sponsors. These are numbers that make this the annual meeting point for the communities of managers and users of digital services of the Foundation for Science and Technology, developed by FCCN.

The FCCN Conferences are aimed at those responsible for IT, library, documentation and/or archive services at HEIs, decision-makers and institutional leaders with these responsibilities, and those responsible for the implementation of science and research units.

Every year it heads to a different region of the country and, for three days, promotes dialogue on areas of FCCN's performance: Collaboration, Connectivity, Knowledge, Computing and Security.
