What's new in 2025
THE Artificial intelligence is one of the main topics highlighted, with sessions dedicated to sharing projects, experiences, and initiatives that use this technology. Also highlighted is the debate on Accessibility Web, which addresses how educational and research institutions can respect digital accessibility standards and good practices on websites and platforms.
Day 1. Technology for Knowledge
The first day focuses on the tools made available to the FCCN community through FCT's digital services: learning how to archive web Portuguese, learn more about Open Science Policies or make the most of Research Data Management, are some of the workshops scheduled. This day also includes a session dedicated to “Democratizing Artificial Intelligence: Making AI accessible to everyone”, taking place at 2:30 pm on May 6th.
Day 2. Community Sharing
The second day of the FCCN 2025 Conference begins with the event's Plenary Session, when representatives from the FCT, the University of Coimbra, and the Coimbra City Council take to the main stage. The highlight is the presentation of Keynote Speaker of the event, João Gabriel Silva, full professor at the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Coimbra, specializing in Computer Engineering, former rector and current president of the Pedro Nunes Institute.
One of the most emblematic moments of the meeting takes place during the morning of the 7th. Zapping FCCN gives participants a comprehensive overview of the latest developments in digital services. Followed by Zapping da Comunidade, a space dedicated to sharing innovative projects, where students, researchers, teachers and staff from national Higher Education Institutions showcase the best work being done at their institutions.
The afternoon features workshops of digital services and parallel sessions dedicated to the following topics: Multimedia, Science Communication, Artificial Intelligence, Data Management.
Day 3. At the forefront of technology
On May 8th, the last day of the FCCN Conferences, the highlight will be the session “AI@Deucalion: Alphafold use case", a demonstration of the use of the Portuguese supercomputer, highlighting the added value of this infrastructure. The morning also features panels dedicated to the new OCRE 2024 Framework Agreement, Data Protection, and Scientific and Digital Repositories. The event concludes with the Closing Session at 12:30 p.m.
A meeting point for the community
In addition to its technical dimension, the program includes several moments of networking, like the Happy Hour and the Social Dinner, with the aim of bringing the community together and promoting sharing among peers.
