The QUAMTUMvLAB launch session will take place on June 18th, at 11:30 am, in a format online.

The ecosystem of virtual digital skills labs promoted by the FCT, through the FCCN digital services unit, is growing. After AIvLAB (Virtual Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence) and the HPCvLAB (Virtual Laboratory of High Performance Computing), now comes the QUANTUMvLAB – Virtual Laboratory of Quantum Computing, whose mission is bring quantum computing closer to the academic, scientific and technological community in Portugal.

The quantum simulator on the Deucalion Supercomputer, funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), emerged through the installation of the Qulacs tool, in close collaboration between CNCA, INESC TEC, Fujitsu, INL (International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory) and IST-UL (Instituto Superior Técnico of the University of Lisbon).

QUANTUMvLAB launches on June 18th

To mark the official launch of this new laboratory, the FCT Advanced Computing service, in the FCCN digital services unit, organizes a webinar on June 18th, at 11:30 am, open to the entire community.

The event will feature presentations by experts who will share the objectives of the QUANTUMvLAB, the resources that will be available and the opportunities for training and collaboration.

  • Date: June 18, 2025
  • Time: 11:30 am
  • Format: Online (Zoom)
  • Event free, upon registration through the link of the session.

What does QuantumvLAB bring?

  • Access to quantum computing simulators and platforms
  • Support for users who want to test the quantum simulator in Deucalion;
  • Support for training in quantum computing;
  • Creating synergies between the national quantum computing community, CNCA and Deucalion, collaborating with other European teams and quantum computers that have recently come into operation (QMio at CESGA, Euro-QCS, MareNostrum-ONA, and others in the EuroHPC network).

With the launch of QUANTUMvLAB, FCT, through its digital services unit FCCN, reinforces its commitment to technological and scientific training in emerging areas.
