On May 27, 28 and 29, the University of Évora will host the SciComPT congressan annual event focused on science communication, powered by the Portuguese network SciComPT – Science and Technology Communication Network of Portugal. 

Under the motto "Science: Heritage for the Future," the event is structured around three central themes. First, "Memory," which seeks to... revisiting the history of Science Communicationrecognizing the paths, practices, and key players that have shaped this field over time. The "Identity," affirming Science as an integral part of Cultural Identity and understanding its communication as a reflection of social, territorial and cultural contexts. in which it develops. Finally, "Sustainability," which aims to promote science communication practices that can contribute to preparing for the future., responding to the environmental, social, and epistemological challenges of today. 

The Marketing and Communication team at FCCN, the digital services unit of the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), will present four sessions throughout the congress., introducing some of these services to the science communication community, as well as Practical cases to explore and reflect upon regarding the topics in focus.FCCN will also be present during the event's exhibition.  

Science communication in the digital world, Artificial Intelligence, preservation of web and open access: FCCN's contribution to the debate 

On the morning of the 27th, the communication “And what happens after the scientific article? Assigning DOIs to online courses at NAU. presents the latest service from NAU Platform of assigning DOIs to courses online resulting from research projectsa solution for science communication in digital environmentsThis initiative is presented. as a way to increase visibility and dissemination from the results of the investigation carried out in Portugal, integrating the Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC – Massive Open Online Courses) in the scientific ecosystem. 

Later that same morning, the service IAedu This will be highlighted in the session “When AI understands the context: communicating science in Higher Education with IAedu”. The presentation will demonstrate, through practical cases, How can this platform support science communicators in their specific needs?It will also be explored how this platform, which aggregates various LLMs in a secure way, can help achieve a Sustainable and ethical integration of Artificial Intelligence into workflows, contributing to digital empowerment and the transformation of Higher education and the Research in Portugal

During the afternoon, participants are invited to to reflect on Open Access to scientific publications, through the communication “Policy on Open Access to scientific publications: opportunities and challenges”, where This concept will be analyzed within the context of public science policies in Portugal., with a special focus on New Policy on Open Access FCT scientific publications, launched in 2025. The day will end with demonstrations, where event participants will be able to Visit the FCCN booth to learn more about the services it offers for Higher Education and Research.

On the last day of the event, May 29th, brief communication “A web "It is a scientific source: how Arquivo.pt supports communication in science". will demonstrate in 3 minutes how this archive of World Wide Web Portuguese It can assist in the communication of science in the different areas addressed at the conference (History, Memory and Identity)., through its features and case studies.
